DON'T CREATE A VISION BOARD!
Sis, please put down your scissors, glue, magazine clippings, glitter and any other crafts that you have sitting on ready! If you're digitally creating a board, close the Canva app on your phone or tablet. You DO NOT need to rush to create a vision board today or even tomorrow.
I posted a video on Facebook explaining why I wait at least 21 days before creating my vision board. Can we at least let January come in and sit down somewhere before we bombard the month with goals, desires, gym memberships, planners, pens and every other thing that we try to do in the first month of the year?
Hopefully, you read my email on Thursday about reading Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson with the Brave Women Community starting on 1/8/2023. If you didn't read the email, never fear! You can view it on our site. I read Draw the Circle in 2019 and I also created my first vision board in that year. However, I did not create my board on 1/1/2019. It was actually not completed until after my birthday in April. It was the best, well thought out, decision that I've ever made! I took time to prepare my mind and focus on intentionally setting goals before I started throwing photos, scriptures and motivational quotes onto my vision board.
I use 4 preliminary tools before I begin my vision board:
I acknowledge and accept the highs and lows of the previous year.
I release anything that did not serve me in the previous year.
I set intentions for 21 days.
I show gratitude for 21 days.
The habits have to be habit-ing before you set goal the first! I put aside this notion that on the 1st day of the year my life will drastically change just because the date changed. That's not how life works. I make sure that I enter into the new year free of toxic residue from the previous year. I walk enter into the gates of the new year with thanksgiving. Regardless of the date, I am always intentional on showing faithfulness and gratitude with all that I have before I ask for anything else.
You can view the video on my Facebook page. It's only 4 minutes because I was not sure y'all would want to really hear what I was talking about, but lo and behold, y'all were here for it! I will go live to fully explain my process on Sunday, January 1st. Time is TBD. We can talk about what we want in 2023, but we ain't creating no boards on the 1st, mmk?
I created free worksheets for you to use the 4 tools! If you would like the worksheets emailed to you, respond to this email with "Worksheet me, please!"
I hope to see you Sunday on Facebook Live!
